| TOP NEWS :: 2007 Season Preview :: |
The truck racing season this year has become the Delphi British Truck Racing Championship with support from one of the big automotive names.
The winter months have seen the racing teams tuning and refining their trucks.
The transformation of these 6 tonne road going trucks into racing machines involves fitting safety rollover cages and pushing the engine output to 1000 horsepower or more!
This season sees more trucks than ever competing with new trucks joining the grid taking the field to over 24 trucks.
Former Champion Stuart Oliver will be hoping his new MAN TGA delivers the performance on the track whilst Mat Summerfield takes over in the ex-Oliver MAN.
Father and son Roy and Stephen Taylor will return for 2007 with a Russian bonneted ZIL and Volvo respectively.
One man made a real impact on the 2006 BTRA Championship – 22 year old racer Chris Levett. But now his Dad is planning to get a slice of the action too!
Andy competed in the first-ever British Truck GP at Donington Park in 1984 –and was one of the leading lights in the European Championship throughout the 1980’s at the wheel of a factory Scania. For 2007 Andy will be racing in another MAN.
23-year old Chris - who won the final races of the 2006 season at Brands Hatch - ended the year as runner-up in the Championship. Not surprisingly he collected the BTRA’s ‘Rookie of the Year’ award for the best newcomer.
The 2007 Delphi British Truck Racing Championship gets into gear at Pembrey, South Wales on the April 14th/15th.
